Spanning over 135 km, Riyadh’s Sports Boulevard is set to become the world’s longest linear park. Upon completion, it will offer over 4.4 million square meters of green and open spaces, embodying the city's commitment to sustainable urban living
The Vision Behind Sports Boulevard
The Sports Boulevard aims to transform Riyadh into a global hub for wellness, sports, and recreation. It encourages residents of Riyadh to adopt a healthy lifestyle by participating in various sports, including walking, cycling, and horse riding. It will also feature safe green pathways for athletes and pedestrians.
The project is taking a former pylon-dominated utility corridor and transforming it into a green oasis, which will conveniently connect the city from west to east. It will serve as the go-to platform to host events and activities, fostering a vibrant cultural and recreational atmosphere.
The Sports Boulevard will be within walking distance of 16% of Riyadh’s population, and it will offer direct links to three major metro stations. This will allow residents to easily access world-class state-of-the-art facilities without having to drive anywhere. Through this infrastructure, there will be a 60% reduction in the time required to travel between districts.
The planning and execution process of the Riyadh Sports Boulevard is conducted in line with the project’s design code announced in 2012, driven by the principles of Salmani architecture. Adhering to this design code is crucial in contributing to the bigger picture, where Riyadh is exclusively designed to the highest standards, and is recognised as one of the greatest cities in the world.
